Learning log
1/3/15
I went searching for poems and decided to pick Acacia Ridge by Kath Walker and Still I Rise by Maya Angelou. I picked these two because they have similar themes and because they protest against racism and discrimination. An interesting topic in my view.
2/3/15
Today I further researched Maya Angelou and Kath Walker. I was able to finish of my biographies for both poets. The most interesting thing that I found out was that Kath Walker was on a British airways flight that was hijacked. She was kept for three days and the hijackers flew to many different locations and in that time she wrote two poems. I think this shows her passion for poetry.
3/3/15
Today I completed the context for Kath Walker. I learnt how everything she does, no matter what it is, she always tries to bring people to think about the aboriginal culture. I also learn that she was a very skilled artist.
7/3/15
Today, I finished off Kath Walker Analysis. I found it quite hard to get all the information that I wanted to into a 300 word paragraph. I than had to do a lot of editing to make sure it was close to a word count of 300.
14/3/15
Today I started and completed the Analyses on Maya Angelous poem Still I Rise. I found it interesting how both poems had very similar themes and used the same techniques. I think this is because the techniques that they are using like metaphors and tone work well with protest poetry. I also started to edit my website.
23/3/15
Today I was able to check my work and edit accordingly. I then started my website again as I did not use the blog template before. I then started editing the website and copied and pasted my work into it. I found it hard using Weebly as it was very slow. I feel like it looks good so far.
26/3/15
Today I was able to finish of my website and bibliography. I did a final edit of my work. Doing this was a good thing because I found quite a lot of mistakes. It was nice to have the assignment finally finished and I was glad I was not rushing and doing everything the night before it was due.
